Day 2 of 30

The Bottleneck Drill

Every project has one step that blocks everything else. Learn to map the A→B→C→D chain and identify exactly where your judgment must focus first.

Part 1: The Bottleneck Drill

Scene 1

Every project has one step that blocks everything else. Find it and you control the whole chain.

Scene 2

Every project is a sequence: A leads to B leads to C leads to D. The bottleneck is the single step that holds up all the others.

Scene 3

Impact Chain Analysis: what happens if the bottleneck stays blocked for one week? One month? The cost compounds fast.

Scene 4

A CEO waits on one approval that holds up 40 people. One signature. The whole organization idles until that judgment is made.

Scene 5

The pitfall: treating all steps equally. Most of your project doesn't matter until the bottleneck moves. Focus there first.

Scene 6

The person who finds the bottleneck — and moves it — is the most valuable person in any room.

Part 2: Map Your Project Chain

+10 XP on completion

Scene 1

Yesterday: judgment is the scarce resource. Today: find the one step in your work that blocks everything else.

Scene 2

Today's practice: pick ONE real project. Write its steps as A→B→C→D. Your job is to circle the one step that blocks everything else.

Scene 3

Step 1 — For each step, ask: if this step stalled for a week, would other steps also stall? The one where the answer is YES is your bottleneck.

Scene 4

Step 2 — Ask: can AI help remove this bottleneck, or is this where human judgment is required? That answer changes your plan.

Scene 5

Commit: before end of day, take ONE action on your bottleneck — even a tiny one. Movement is the point.

Scene 6

You mapped the chain. You found the block. Day by day, your judgment compass sharpens — today its needle appears.
